Through The Wormhole

(BEGIN MORGAN FREEMAN NARRATION)

Through the Wormhole is the title of my recently completed IAR 201 project, essentially this project began with folding pieces of paper. The objective... to fold paper in order to provide or create a space using a set of rules/guidelines. Well for my structure I wanted to use something that was already established and use that as basically a template by which to fold by. And I said to myself, "why not use outer space again?" So that's exactly what I did! I took the most common/popular constellation known as the Big Dipper and from the seven stars within it I extended its lines as you can see in my diagrams on my board. I then created thickness to the lines and got rid of the voids within the paper to create a solid structural metal form. The end goal of the project was to develop a board with diagrams/digital renderings/elevations/sections/plans and a highly articulated model.

Space: The Opportunity To Do A Terrible Accent

As seen in earlier posts for my IAR 201 we've been working on examining ourselves in space and how we move throughout a space and what we can figure out about ourselves in space. We've done this in a three part process I guess you'd say. The first part being a mechanical sort of way of figuring out our body, the second conveying information about ourselves in a digital format and the last portion was to collect all our data and sort of combine everything to create a refined presentation.

INTRODUCING: The Lights

So today in studio we wrapped up our second part of our extrapolating the human body project. The first part of this project was to understand our body in a space through a series of drawings and such and the second part was much more abstract in expression and had to be conveyed in the digital format. This was my final product after many, many hours in iMovie (sorry about crummy YouTube quality).

Space: The Final Frontier

So our first studio project is a three part project and the first part is COMPLETE! Basically the idea of it was to understand our body in space and to see how we can understand our measurements to better relate it to a physical object that we could then measure. Let's just say it was a confusing project for sure, especially to be the first one... but anyways I struggled with ideas for the first project. Me being 6'2 though I knew I was fairly tall so I figured what better space for me to feel space in than OUTER SPACE. So what your going to see first is my series of drawings and then all of them overlaid on each other for two different sets.

Stay tuned for the upcoming portions of the project!
