Unity Through Skewers & Bristol Board

This project has been on-going now for about 2 weeks I'd say, we were to take 12 bamboo skewers and 12 4x6" pieces of bristol board and somehow find a way to unify these two different materials. The only rule was the 4x6" cards had to remain 4x6 in size and we couldn't cut the skewers at all. I had many different sketches in the beginning, it began something like this.

From these I honestly just started experimenting and I had three ideas I worked with one of which I never got to complete which was to bend the skewers and build the object upward but I let the skewers soak for about three days, but they never really got where I felt confident enough to work with them. So here were my two initial models.

My first model, I honestly liked the way it looked but nothing about it felt unified because I made it and the whole time I was kind of almost winging what I was doing. And well the second one was a very simple idea... weaving I guess you'd say and I liked the way it came out and saw that no one really had an idea like it so I stuck to it and here was my final outcome along with the draftings of the final piece.

And lastly we were to create an inspiration board kind of conveying the ideas we had through images or words and here was mine.
