Who Didn't Draw Blakeni...

It's so strange, I can say honestly that I've never enjoyed painting at all... but for some reason I don't know what it is. But I am really enjoying working with watercolors, I always sucked at painting and tried in my high school art classes to steer away from it. Here though, it's inevitable! So I'm trying to embrace that as a time to try and really learn and experience it differently and I am really liking the watercolor assignments. The only part I'm not so fond of is trying to mix paints to get the exact color your looking for. But this new assignment for Suzanne, we were to draw 3 accessories on fellow classmates creating a vignette or sorts, so my lovely assistants were Kayla, Blakeni (of course!), and Colleen. I also tried to work on composition a little more in this one and ended up liking the way I laid out all my images.

Illuminated Objects

Our first assignment for Suzanne was to find 5 artifacts or objects around the studio or house that we tied meaning to, and originally the 5 objects were kind of random but 3 of the objects required cables at some point. So as I was drawing I realized that and ended up doing objects that needed cables attached to them at one point or another. Honestly for the layout of mine I should have and needed to consider a bit more then I did. But for some reason I just randomly placed them throughout because I didn't really have a theme to begin with. During this assignment we were required to use only 1 color pencil and I went with a bluish color. I decided not to put color in my images themselves to emphasize shading, instead I put somewhat of a super graphic in the background and colored it. This was the end result.

The next sort of assignment dealing with the same thing, was based around the principle of the first week back to school. And we had to draw inspiration from a magazine layout, I found a layout from magazine in the resource library and I tried as best to mimic it. And also I used my Chartpak's as a good chance to experiment some more.

Out With The Old & In With The New

So this is the start of a new semester of course and both our IARc teachers wanted us to purchase new sketchbooks and then today we moved around some. We were split up into how our drawing class is, the morning class at one end and the afternoon class at another end. And of course my beautiful window seat I had to give up because I am now on the other end. But I gave my area to Abigail and I was happy to do so, but damn it was a good... a great desk. So I'm bidding farewell to the old desk and old sketchbook and starting a new era.

THE OLD

THE NEW

OKAY SO...

SCRATCH THAT SKETCHBOOK! I have decided not to use the new sketchbook because it's gorgeous for sure, but the pages in it are perforated and are a bit glossy. So it got to be annoying within the 3 days I used it. So I have made a switch to this new thing! INTRODUCING the new replacement sketchbook! It's a bit more comfy.

Back To Work!

So today was the first day of classes and today I had my 2nd design course and Suzanne told us we needed to have watercolors as soon as possible. So I got out pretty early today and decided to go ahead and buy me some, I bought a pretty nice set of Windsor & Newton that I'm digging. So tonight I decided to experiment some with them, because I've never been good at painting and especially when it comes to water color.

so... WELCOME BACK EVERYONE! It's back to being crazy and stressed but it's a good thing I enjoy that here.

The Late Night Debacle

So I haven't blogged in awhile but that'll all be changing soon because second semester of IARc starts Tuesday! And I am pretty damn excited! But I'm not sure if anyone watches any of NBC's late night shows starting with Leno, then going to Conan, Fallon and Carson Daly. Back last Spring the late night shows took a shift by Fallon taking over Late Night in New York, then Conan moved to CA to take over the Tonight Showt and then Leno moved up to primetime which began at 10:00, but his show didn't start until a couple of months ago. But his new time slot also brought with it, not so good ratings. So NBC has decided to move Leno in an attempt to achieve better ratings, but he will be back at 11:35 and Conan has stated that he will not work for NBC anymore if he has to go to the 12:05 time slot.

But Conan is probably the first late night show I started watching several years ago, and then just slowly started watching all of them on NBC. So I just wanted to state my position because I'm a Conan fan, but I also enjoy all the late night shows and think everyone of their employees deserve their time slot that they've had for the last months. But NBC however is gonna do that, which really sucks.
